Hawa Konate won the Keystone test raffle for “Principal of the Day” at Academy Park High School! On May 30, she stepped into the role of 11th Grade Assistant Principal. Ms. Hawa got a glimpse into the fast-paced daily routine of an APHS administrator. She visited classrooms, answered phone calls from teachers, handed out (fake) detentions, and more. After an hour on the job, she realized just how busy and demanding the role can be and was ready to clock out! Teachers praised her for being a great Assistant Principal! 🎉

On May 22, Southeast Delco School District hosted a special event at Sharon Hill Elementary in partnership with Read Alliance (READ), the PA Chamber Foundation, and the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce. 📚 The event highlighted our district’s pilot of READ’s powerful dual-impact program, which improves early literacy for K-2 students while providing paid tutoring jobs for high schoolers. Many Teen Leaders returned to their former elementary school to give back where it all began. 💙 With support from caring teachers and a structured, phonics-based curriculum, students are gaining reading skills, confidence, and career readiness. Thank you to Superintendent Dr. Yamil Sanchez and the entire SE Delco team for bringing this vision to life and investing in student success at every level! 👏

Students from the Classes of 2027 and 2028 had an unforgettable day at the Phillies game on May 14th—cheering on the team to victory! ⚾👏 A big thank you to Mr. Alexander, Mrs. Carpani, Mr. Spear, and our amazing Bus Depot team for making it all happen. What a great memory!

A group of APHS students recently traveled to Harrisburg to participate in Advocacy Day at the Pennsylvania State Capitol! 🚌📣 Representatives from @Rep. David M Delloso’s Office and @Children First escorted the group to a special recognition to kick off the day. They had the opportunity for a group photo with State Representatives @Rep. Heather Boyd, David Delloso—an APHS alumnus—and Speaker of the House @Rep. Joanna McClinton! Following the ceremony, students joined a press conference and rally on the Capitol steps, hosted by @PA Schools Work and Children First, advocating for fair and full funding for public education across Pennsylvania. During lunch, students participated in a Q&A session, gaining valuable insight into how education funding is structured at the state level and what’s included in this year’s proposed budget. Some students were even interviewed by Children First for their upcoming newspaper article, while others had the chance to meet with Senator Anthony H. Williams' Chief of Staff, learning more about legislative processes and how young people can make their voices heard. This hands-on civic experience inspired and empowered our students as future leaders, giving them a front-row seat to state government in action. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this trip possible!

REMINDER: There is no school for students on Tuesday, May 20. This is an in-service day for teachers and staff.

The Academy Park PTSA’s annual Mother’s Day Weekend Car Wash was a huge success! 🚗 32 student volunteers came out to wash 65 cars, a motorcycle—and even a school bus, thanks to bus driver Bill Wells! We’re incredibly grateful to the parents who volunteered and helped organize this event. Your hard work and dedication make these moments possible. The PTSA wants to extend special thanks to Assistant Principal Baxter and Security Officer Jackson for their help with the event.

On Earth Day, tenth grade students Ali Konneh and Emani Jordan planted a new tree on the Academy Park High School campus! 🌳 We are proud of their initiative and commitment to creating a greener future!
